The Institute

The Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (IDRI), under the authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Community abroad, provides courses and training adapted to meet Algeria’s foreign policy orientations and requirements of modern diplomacy.

Established by Presidential Decree n⁰ 02-408 of November 26^th, 2002 and organized by presidential Decree n⁰ 03-238 of June 29^th 2003.

To become a Think Thank and a Center of excellence at regional and international level.

Mission

• Training young diplomats;
• In-house training for the Ministry staff;
• Organization of professional exams for the Staff’s career development;
• Training courses for foreign diplomats;
• Conducting studies and research;
• Organization of conferences, seminars and thematic workshops;
• Establishing partnerships with similar institutions.

Training programs

• Courses on Diplomacy, International Relations and related fields to update diplomat’s knowledge;
• Practical courses dealing with protocol, techniques of international negotiation, information management and communication technologies;
• Foreign languages courses;
• Conferences and workshops;
• Training courses and workshops;
• Training sessions abroad.

• Highly qualified university teachers;
• Senior diplomats who served as Ambassadors, Consul General and Consul;
• High-level Experts;
• Highly qualified scholars and experts for conferences, workshops and seminars.

Studies and research

• Research groups composed of Algerian and/or foreign academics and experts;
• Produce and disseminate conducted studies and research.

Partnership

• Agreements with diplomatic academies and institutes, universities and research centers and international organizations;
• More than 40 Memorandums of understanding are signed or about to be concluded;
• Member of the General Assembly of Directors and Deans of diplomatic academies;
• Member of the Group of the Arab Diplomatic Institutes.

Library

• Over 1.600 publications and books on diplomacy, international relations and other disciplines, mainly in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.
