Déclaration à la presse de M. Sabri Boukadoum, à l’issue de l’audience avec le Président d’Afrique du Sud, M. Cyril Ramaphosa. 12/01/2021

I am truly privileged and honored to be granted an audience by H.E. Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, Chair of the African Union, to whom I conveyed the greetings and best wishes of his brother, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, President of Algeria.

Today's meeting offered a unique opportunity to benefit from President Ramaphosa's valuable insights and analyses on the current state of international relations, as well as on the most challenging international and regional issues. I also benefited from the President's views on the excellent bilateral relations between Algeria and South Africa as well as his thoughts on the ways and means to further boost them in the near future to achieve the full potential of this strategic relationship.

Algeria and South Africa are bound by historical and fraternal relations that are rooted in their strong commitment to the values and ideals of panafricanism. President Tebboune has asked me to express his deep appreciation to President Ramaphosa for his strong leadership at the helm of the African Union, especially amidst the difficult circumstances imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also congratulates South Africa upon the successful completion of its mandate as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.

Indeed, South Africa served our Continent at the Security Council with dignity and pride in the face of enormous political pressure and unprecedented challenges at the international level. During its two-year mandate, South Africa was a true and faithful representative of Africa's profound concerns and legitimate aspirations and we are sure that its legacy will remain a source of pride for all Africans.

I thank you.
